Dear Teachers,

We have really big, unprecedented news to report. A full time kindergarten teacher from Georgia named Deanna Jump has surpassed $1,000,000 in sales on TpT! The first teacher millionaire! The most amazing part is that she earned it for being a great teacher and sharing her greatness with hundreds of thousands of other teachers around the world. How incredible is that!?

I remember back in late 2010 when Deanna earned $27k in one quarter, far more than she or anyone had previously, and everyone involved with TpT was stunned. We thought it may have been an anomaly, but time has proven that it was just the beginning. This quarter alone, many others sellers will surpass that mark and Deanna will earn around $250,000. As most in our community already know, Deanna has also been very generous with her earnings, giving back and paying forward often and significantly.

What does it mean? Forgetting the money, the professional and personal pride of the amazing achievement, and all the rest, you have to know how Deanna has inspired the teachers who flock to her materials. Here it is in some of their own words:

"I just wanted to thank you for all of your contributions to the teaching profession. I've purchased some of your beautiful units from TeachersPayTeachers. You are truly a blessing to the "Kindergarten World"! Whether it be a unit or reading your blog, I learn new things from you each day! You are such an inspiration! Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us."

"If it's from Deanna Jump.....It's AWESOME!!!! Thank you for all of your hard work and taking the common core and making it fun and exciting for little learners. I am so excited to teach Kindergarten with your many units."

"Thanks for making planning time fun! You're worth more than a $million :-) Please keep sharing you're high quality units with us. Love that rigor you put into each activity."

Does it get any more beautiful and synergistic than this? Great teacher shares ideas, inspires other teachers, earns her first million dollars. Wow. Thanks Deanna for inspiring a profession just when we needed it the most!

Teach and be well,

TpT SPOTLIGHT

Deanna's accomplishment is being noticed worldwide. Time was the first to report it late last week, and Businessweek.com will have an article out today or tomorrow! CNN has scheduled an in-school interview with Deanna this week and more big stories are in the pipeline. You know we will keep you posted :)

A million is pretty sweet, but it all started with hitting earlier milestones one baby step at a time--and with lots of hard work. Congratulations to two more sellers, Jennifer Runde and Donna Glynn/ Kinderglynn who have reached $75,000 in earnings; and to Second Story Window and Yvonne Dixon who surpassed $20,000 some time back. In fact, Yvonne has doubled that mark already. Amazing work! You are also an inspiration to the thousands of teachers just getting started on TpT.

What about you? It only starts with one resource. For those of you considering becoming contributors but have yet to take the plunge, check out this freebie by successful TpT'er Teacher Tam called Getting Started on TPT: Making Products Video #1.

Ok, so after this talk of sales and earnings, back to what TpT is really about. Before TpT, it was nearly impossible to get really high quality teacher-created materials online. Now that you can get amazing experience-based resources, your own teaching is able to leap ahead at much faster rates. And then you are soon able to share your own earned expertise with the wider world. Our collective pedagogical skills then spiral upwards, and that my friends is spelled P-R-O-G-R-E-S-S!
