Dear Teachers,
TpT is a service about people with real stories as much as it's about sharing curriculum. Many of you have heard about best seller Deanna Jump's accomplishments, and there will be more news next week. But there are also thousands of other sellers on TpT who are doing very well, too. Some spectacularly so. In the latest edition of our monthly seller newsletter (which you can receive too if you upgrade to a seller account) we featured the stories of just two of these rising stars: Amy Lemons and Jodi Durgin (Clutter-Free Classroom).
Amy has been selling on TpT for 9 months and has already earned $100,000. That's incredible! And Jodi has earned $100,000 just this summer during the months of July and August! That puts Jodi on pace to earn $600,000 this year, easily joining the 1%. Wow.
From the newsletter, written by Margaret Whisnant:
Jodi described her first quarter earnings in the fall of 2010 as so meager she didn't notice when they were deposited in her PayPal account. Then, in the summer of 2011, she saw Deanna Jump's interview with Fox Atlanta. This was, in her words, "a defining moment in my life." Jodi and her husband had unexpectedly been blessed with twins, which created a seriously stretched budget. The thought of one of them taking on a second job that would diminish family time with their three children was heartbreaking. "Deanna's interview," Jodi wrote, "made me realize that I already had an opportunity to help my family financially while doing something I absolutely loved." She began treating her TpT seller status as a job, complete with a business plan and long-term goals. A year later her earnings were far exceeding her wildest expectations.
And Amy? Amy's amazing success has given her and her husband the resources to adopt a little girl from the Congo who will be joining them in the next few months.
I know I say this a lot, but I am so moved by the concept that I can't but repeat it over and over: when you make a purchase on TpT, something really magical happens way beyond any typical transaction you make at the mall or even at the local teacher store. Your little payment gets you amazing teaching materials, but as if that weren't enough already, it also adds up with all the other little payments to transform lives, impacting us all. Really, we are Teachers Paying-It-Forward to Teachers, and it's very very good. Thanks to everyone for the inspiration!
Teach and be well,
Paul Edelman Founder, TpT
