| YMCA WELCOMES NEW BOARD MEMBERS IN 2012 | |
 The Richmond County YMCA, a volunteer led and run organization, welcomed new board members at the January meeting. Joining the board in 2012 are: Bill Herbert, Stan Terhune, Bill Johns, David Gallagher, Kathy Herbert, Hillary Pugh, Kim Hillman and Kristy Packett. Packett served from 2008-2010 and was honored in 2010 as the YMCA Volunteer of the Year. All of the other board members are serving thier first term.
The Richmond County YMCA volunteer leadership includes, Greg White,Chairman; Jason Patton, Vice Chairman; Rosa Forrester, Secretary; Regis Slaw, Treasurer; Carol Motley Annual Support Chair.
"The Y has a rich history of engaged volunteers and we are very excited about this incoming class joining our board. They will help to strenghthen and further the good work of this YMCA in our community," explained Greg White, Board Chairman. |
| TAKE THE Y BUS - CBS6 HEALTHY LIFESTYLE EXPO | |
 At the request of many members, the Y will offer a bus ride to the CBS6 Healthy Lifestyle Expo. The expo is held at the Richmond Convention Center on Saturday February 4. The Y bus will leave from the Warsaw Buy-Rite at 9:15am with an expected return time of 2:30 pm. There are concessions available while some experienced expo goers bring their own lunch. The trip is FREE for Y members, simply register at the Welcome Desk.
The CBS6 Healthy Lifestyle Expo is presented by VCU Medical Center and provides hundreds of vendors covering all things related to health, from food to physical activity.
The event always features several celebrity guests. This year participants look forward to seeing: Dr. Oz's Fitness Guru, Stepp Stewart; Celbrity Chef, Nathan Lyon; and have the chance to take yoga with Young & the Restless star, Judith Chapman. |

Camp Kekoka has something for everyone! Tubing, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, fishing, crabbing, archery, drama, cooking, garden, arts & crafts, cabin time, and so much more! All of this in a safe and nurturing environment. Campers walk away a little more independent and self-assured.

| SPRING SOCCER LEAGUE OPEN FOR AGES 3-15 | | |
Beginning Monday February 6, parents can register thier soccer stars for the YMCA Spring Soccer League. Age groups are 3-5 (Rookies I), 6-8 (Rookies II), 9-11 (Winners I), 12-15 (Winners II). The deadline to register is Friday, March 2.
YMCA Youth Super Sports focuses developing winners for life. Through designated time at practice and games, character development is taught, along with soccer skills and techniques.

| YMCA TO PROVIDE QUESTION & ANSWER SEMINAR | | |
Richmond County resident, Marion Packett and the YMCA will be offering a question & answer seminar on alcoholism on February 23 at 6:00 pm.
"My goal is to help others be informed about this disease that affects so many people from all walks of life. I want people to feel comfortable asking any question they desire," explains Marion Packett.
1 in 10 suffer from Alcoholism, but nearly all people are affected in some way, whether it be a spouse, friend or co-worker. The YMCA invites anyone interested in learning more to this FREE event. Click HEREfor our informational flyer. |
| NO JOINING FEE OFFERED IN CELEBRATION | | |
The newest YMCA facility in the Northern Neck is now in Heathsville, the heart of Northumberland County. This new facility includes a gymnasium, wellness center, teen center, child watch, saunas and even an outdoor pool. Grand opening is set for Saturday, February 4 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
In celebration of this grand opening, YMCAs in the Northern Neck are offering NO Joining Fee at any of its locations. Current Richmond County YMCA members have available annual visits to the Northumberland YMCA and can upgrade their current membership to recieve full access at both branches for as little as $7. |
