INDOOR SOCCER CLUB GETTING READY TO KICKOFF

Indoor Soccer PhotoSocccer was offered for the first time as a recreational sport in Richmond County in the fall of 1996 through the YMCA.

Today youth can play in the fall, spring and now even the winter with the YMCA Indoor Soccer Club.  Registration is currently open through January 6.  The club is for youth ages 9 to 17 and is led by local soccer guru, Jerome Nelson.

Starting on January 7, the soccer club will meet each Saturday afternoon through the end of February.  Saturday play consists of instruction and game play with the focus being footwork and ball control.

BASKETBAL - INVENTED BY THE YMCA
basketballYMCA Instructor, Dr. James Naismith invented the sport of basketball in 1891.  Since that time, basketball has become one of the most popular sports around the world.  Today the YMCA remains one of the leaders in youth sports programming, particularly with youth basketball.

The Richmond County YMCA invites all youth to sign up for its youth basketball league before January 6.  Age groups are 3-5, 6-8, 9-11 and 12-15.  Games will be played on Saturdays and with practices once per week (excluding 3-5s).

YMCA Basketball is one of the largest youth leagues in the region with well over 500 children participating in the Northern Neck.  Every player receives a jersey and shorts, Y basketball, and an end of the season medal.  If you have questions feel free to contact Clifton at the Y.  Click HERE for more information.
