California Radiological Society Update 

We encourage eligible members to apply for ACR fellowship. The CRS reviews applicants and submits many for consideration by the ACR. The CRS needs to receive completed applications by 2/28 so that they can be reviewed for consideration. The fellowship application is available on the ACR website. Click membership-member services. Applications considered this year by the ACR will be awarded in 2012.

Meaningful Use under EHR for Radiologists

There is more information being made available about the ability of radiologists to become eligible for federal and state funds for implementing and demonstrating meaningfully use of  an Electronic Health Record. CMS will make available up to $44,000 per radiologist and this carrot will eventually become a financial penalty for those physicians who do not implement systems. Save-The-Date 

The CRS will also be co-hosting a Practice Leaders meeting with the ACR this year as part of our fall Annual Meeting. Part of the courses offered will focus on meaningful use for radiologists, how to qualify, and hopefully provide some vendors on-site that can help with this effort. The meeting will be held
