ACR Requests Assistance
You probably already received this last week for the ACR but we thought we would also send it along. This issue is on the front burner and they could use input form members on impact. We have reprinted the message from the ACR below.
The ACR needs your immediate assistance!
I am writing to today to ask for your help on a very important matter. The ACR would appreciate you assisting in gathering information on the irreparable harm the new Medicare physician fee schedule will have on the practice of radiology if it is implemented on January 1,2010. The fee schedule contains two critical problems that would affect your practice and quality patient care. One, Medicare used defective survey data in determining practice expense RVUs that will apply beginning next January 1. Two, Medicare has failed to consider radiology specific survey data under radiology's resource-based valuation system (RBRVS).
ACR needs to show that the cuts will cause irreparable harm to radiology practices and their patients. Thus, we need to obtain statements from practice leaders about the impact these cuts will have. The debate will not be won by demonstrating simple loss of income to radiologists. We need to show impact such as cancellation of equipment purchases, reduction or elimination of services and closure of imaging facilities in areas with significant Medicare populations.. In addition, we want information from rural practices.
Thank you for your assistance to the College, your patients and your profession. |
