Senate Approves Compromise Economic Stimulus Legislation
By a vote of 61-37, the Senate yesterday passed S.1, a compromise economic stimulus bill. The compromise, brokered by Senators Ben Nelson (D-NE) and Susan Collins (R-ME), cut some $100 billion in spending and tax provisions from the underlying $940 billion S.1, the Senate version of the economic stimulus legislation.
