MICHIGAN 2-1-1 UPDATE

On Monday, July 2nd, the Michigan Association of United Ways received notice from the Michigan Department of Transportation that the U.S. Department of Transportation had awarded $1.5 million to bring together Michigan 2-1-1's eight regional call centers to create a statewide "One Call-One Click" service for veterans and their families. The funds will help address health and human services, transportation, and employment needs through a system-wide database, website, and call routing capability. Program planning will commence this August.

The Michigan Public Service Commission recently approved the application for both Emmet and Charlevoix counties to move forward with plans to offer direct 2-1-1 services to an additional 58,643 Michiganians. 2-1-1 call, data base, and website services will be managed by the Call 2-1-1 center out of Muskegon. As a result of this action, Michigan 2-1-1 is now available to 95% of the state's population. Congratulations to both county and call center leadership.
