The 2012 United Way Campaign is getting under way!  Training dates are as follows:

 

Tuesday, July 31

Loaned Executive training from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.    Its not too late to become a Loaned Executive!!!

 

Thursday, August 16 and September 13

Employee Campaign Coordinator training from 8 to 9:30 a.m.

 

All meetings will be held at United Way of the Lakeshore,

31 East Clay Avenue, downtown Muskegon.

United Way of the Lakeshore announces a special thank you sweepstakes for the 2012 campaign.  Any new gift of $50 or more, or any gift that has been increased from the previous year by $50, automatically qualifies you to be entered in the drawing for a 2013 Harley Davidson softail motorcycle!  In order to be included in this raffle, your pledge form or completed entry form must be received at the United Way office by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2012.  The winner will be announced on December 5 during the Muskegon campaign finale.

The Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) is a USDA Supplemental Food and Nutrition Program. WIC provides nutrition education, referrals, breastfeeding education/support, and nutritious food to eligible pregnant, postpartum, breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5. 

 

Benefits for free, healthy food include milk, eggs, cheese, juice, cereal, fruits and veggies, infant formula, cereal and baby food, peanut butter, and bread.

 RIDE UNITED - RIDERS WANTED!  

50 & 100 mile bike ride to benefit United Way,

sponsored by DTE Energy, Meijer & Priority Health

 

An opportunity to challenge yourself and support your community on Thursday, September 6.  This event benefits United Way of the Lakeshore in Muskegon, Newaygo and Oceana counties.

 

50 Mile Route:  Riders willing to participate in the 50 mile tour start at the DTE Energy building located at 2359 Olthoff Drive, Muskegon.  Riders will follow the Musketawa Trail to Marne, looping back and ending in unison with the 100 mile riders at the DTE Energy Building.  Starting time estimated to be 12/12:30 p.m.

 

100 Mile Route:  Start at the Hart-Montague Trail in Hart and end at the DTE Energy building  located at 2359 Olthoff Drive, Muskegon.  Starting time is 8 a.m.

The 19th Annual Day of Caring will take place on Friday, September 7, at Wesley Park on Marquette Avenue in Muskegon Township, and Rotary Park, located between the Muskegon YMCA and Heritage Landing.

Get your FREE back-to-school backpack filled with school supplies!  There will be food, fun, and hair cuts (activities may vary at each site).  Parents must be with children and present their ID.

 MISSION FOR VISION

 

Michigan Commerce Bank invites you to join the effort to collect over 1,000 glasses for the Mission for Vision.  Glasses (gently used prescription), readers and sunglasses are being accepted throughout the monthly of July and can be dropped off to any of the Michigan Commerce Bank offices.

 

With the help of New Eyes for the Needy, all donations will be recycled and distributed to people in need of glasses throughout the world.  A tax receipt is available upon request.
