WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP NETWORK

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

The next WLN meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 22  and includes a tour of the Teen Health Center at Muskegon High School, and West Michigan Therapy's new 38 bed women's facility.  Plan to meet at United Way, 31 East Clay Avenue at 3:45 p.m. to ride the bus.  Light refreshments will be provided and the bus will return to United Way at 6 p.m.

The next social event will be on Tuesday, July 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hampton Green Farms in Fruitport.  If you are planning to attend either of these events, please RSVP to stephanie@unitedwaylakeshore.org.

Women's Leadership Network is open to any woman giving $500 or more annually to United Way.  The 2012 WLN Chair is Tammy Gillette, who has been involved with United Way for over 25 years.

Mission Statement:  The Women's Leadership Network of United Way of the Lakeshore exists to build a powerful coalition of women, in order that we can increase awareness of needs in our community, particularly those impacting women and children; provide a forum to learn more about the needs of the community and the organizations that address those needs; and encourage women to become leadership donors.

 GHSP SURVEY HELPS UNITED WAY

Our friends at GHSP will make a donation to United Way of the Lakeshore each time someone clicks this link http://svy.mk/spuwls12 and anonymously takes the Shifter Preference Survey.  Please complete this survey by May 15.

A shifter lets you get your car from park to reverse, neutral, or drive.  This short survey will GHSP develop future shifters and provide funds for United Way!

Please feel free to share this survey with your friends.  The more you share, the more we receive!

 RIDE UNITED

DID YOU KNOW?

The first duty of Howard P. Hunt, the first Executive Director of United Way, was to find a permanent office for the Greater Muskegon War, Community Progress and Charity Fund, Inc (United Way).  It had never before had an office of its own, usually meeting in a room in the Chamber of Commerce offices, the Century Club, the YMCA, Board Chair, LC Walker's office or - for the duration of the campaign in 1942 - an abandoned store front.  Hunt rented room 314 in the Hackley Union Bank Building beginning in January 1943 for $48 per month.
