Canoeing Basic Skills database error now
fixed -There was an error with Canoeing Basics Program that has
now been solved. If you were trying to register a Canoeing Basics program
and did not find the appropriate instructors on the drop down list you
should find them now. Thanks for your patience while we sorted this
out.
HST ON INSTRUCTOR RENEWALS AND COURSE FEES May 1st onwards your instructor membership dues now include HST (13%) for total of $ 79.10 and as of July 1st, HST will apply to course fees.
Q: Why do I have to pay HST when I operate all my programs in an out of province / non HST province ? A: Because you are buying services (membership and course fees) which include admin service & support, program manuals, insurance and more than 10% of that service comes out of the PC office in Ontario, then HST is applicable.
PLEASE DO A DATABASE SEARCH FOR YOUR SKILL COURSE PARTICIPANTS - Please & triple please take the time to properly search for course participants in database. We are finding duplicate (triple sometimes) records with certifications spread across different accounts.
Often last names are misspelled from a previous courses which happens.
You can search by last name, first name, email
or member number. If all us take a little extra time it will save me hours of time in office fixing these issues & your participants will be less confused - Thank you.
UPDATE for
IT's Re: INSTRUCTOR CANDIDATES Candidates who missed the boat and were not able to preregister by start date but still participated in the course, here's a little tip to
getting them on the course after the fact:
In Member Area - 'My Courses' - Find that course, click on ID, then
click on 'Update', adjust your dates (start and end dates) forward in time (suggest 1 week) to allow your
candidates to login and preregister, then once all remaining candidates are registered on the course, go
back and readjust dates back to original dates. Then you are ready to do your course report. Make sense? No? then call office please.
HELPING OUR NEW INSTRUCTOR CANDIDATES Instructor candidates who have prior PC skill certs will likely have an account already. It just needs to be
activated. They can then sign in and register as instructor candidate. This is now stated
clearly in sample letter email you send to participants (see How to Register an Instructor Course PDF) It reads as follows:
"VERY
IMPORTANT:
If you are a Paddle Canada Instructor member, have previously taken part in a
Paddle Canada skills course or have received a KANAWA Magazine
subscription, you should already listed in the Paddle Canada database."
Please encourage them to contact the office for help in signing up and activating their new online account. Again this will help reduce errors and duplication in database. WAIVER FORMS/CARDS

We have limited quantities of adult and youth waivers at no charge (while supplies last - you pay shipping and handling). Once these supplies are gone we will continue to have waiver/cards available for order at a small cost of 1.20 per card plus tax and shipping.
OR
Print Your Own - You can print your waiver forms off the website. From your members login area, under "Instructor Services" click on => "Waiver and Liability Forms" New B&W and print ready format now posted.follow printing instructions on that page. If you are unable to print your own, consider having them professionally printed on card stock at your local printing services location.
RECERT CLINICS - "HOW TO" REGISTER There is no
admin fee for instructor recert clinics. Course Directors please register your clinic with 'fees paid by organization' and make notes in box at bottom that this is an 'instructor recert'. Candidates won't be charged any fees when signing up. Post clinic, file your course report as normal, but leave at 'invoice' stage and
call or email the office to zero out automated invoice amount and mark it complete.
