Best of the Blog
If you haven't been following The Grant Goddess Speaks blog, now would be a good time to sign up for an email subscription. We post five or six times each week, and the posts are full of grant writing and program evaluation tips. Yes, some of them are even a bit amusing.

Starting this week, we'll be posting a series of articles about low performing schools and the School Improvement Grant (SIG) program.  We have been doing some research into the characteristics of the lowest performing schools and the characteristics of distinguished, high performing schools. This series will share some of what we have learned.

Here are some of our recent blog posts from the last month or so that are in the "must read" category:

Upcoming Grant Opportunities
Smaller Learning Communities - If you work with a high school with more than 1,000 students and you have been thinking of restructuring into smaller learning communities, you should check out this funding source.

High School Graduation Initiative - This program is the former Dropout Prevention Program.  To be eligible, a school must have a dropout rate above its state average.  Middle and high schools are eligible to apply.

Mentoring Children of Prisoners - If your community has a significant number of children of incarcerated parents and if you implement mentoring programs (or want to implement a mentoring program), this opportunity may be for you.

There are literally hundreds of grant opportunities available through grants.gov. It would be worth your time to take a look.

Note from the Grant Goddess
Veronica RobbinsThe grant writing season this year is going on longer than it has in previous years.  Last year, we submitted a few grants in July.  The number has tripled for this July! The difficult part is that people in organizations of all types are trying to take vacations this month and are not as available as they usually are. On the other hand, if you are working this month and you're willing to prepare some grant applications, you will have a competitive advantage because so many other organizations are letting opportunities go by because of their vacation schedules.

If you'd like to talk about what grant opportunities might be available for you, please give me a call - 530-669-3600.
NEW Grant Writing Resources for You!
We have developed two brand new grant writing resources (in addition to all the resources we already offer!) to help you be more successful with your grant writing.

At grantsample.com you'll find hundreds of successful sample grant narratives.  By successful, I mean grants that have been funded!  By taking a look at successful grants, you can get a good idea of what it takes to get funded. For a limited time, you can get 50% off all grant samples by using the code: smart1.

At grantoutline.com, you can find grant outlines and templates for several upcoming competitions.  Each one includes the scoring criteria from the RFA, a formatted document that you can use to start writing, and some professional suggestions for each section of the grant narrative. You can get a FREE sample Letter of Inquiry (LOI) template by using the code: loi.

Very soon, you'll start to see packages of grant samples and outlines combined.

If there is a particular grant sample or grant outline category you would like to see, please let us know.
