8th GRADE MISSION TRIP

Dear Parents of Eight Grade Students,
What a year it has been! Just think-your daughter or son will be joining the ranks of high school students in a few short months! This is truly a time of celebration and transition for you and your child. There is sure to be excitement and fear about what the next phase will look like. This is a time to begin to expand worldviews beyond the walls of Wayzata Community Church and live into the mission that we as a church are called to do.
We have been presented with the perfect opportunity to do that! This year only, UCC Youth from across the nation have been invited to attend the 27th General Synod of the United Church of Christ in Grand Rapids, Michigan. General Synod is a gathering of delegates representing the 38 UCC Conferences, as well as staff and visitors from UCC churches across the nation. Together they share and celebrate their ministries, worship, and recognize their important ecumenical and world relationships.
Habitat for Humanity is co-sponsoring the mission component of this trip. A neighborhood of 50 homes in the city of Grand Rapids has been selected for a clean-up event. We will clean up yards and paint houses to give this neighborhood a much needed face lift.
All activities on the 8th Grade Mission Trip will be planned with an emphasis towards safety, shared experience and faith affirmation. I hope your 8th Grader will join me for this very meaningful experience! I'm dedicated to making this trip transformational!
