King Cake: A Mardi Gras Tradition..............
King
Cake is a sweet brioche dough baked, and covered with a sugar topping
in Mardi Gras colors: purple representing justice, green representing
faith, and gold representing power. Inside the cake is a surprise -
traditionally a tiny baby figurine, a dime, or a dried bean.
Stick
Boy will include a small baby figurine with every King Cake purchase.
Simply push the baby into the bottom of the cake before slicing.
Whoever gets the surprise in their slice gets good luck for the New
Year, and gets to buy the next cake.
King cakes started as a
symbol for the round route the three wise men took to throw King Herod
off their trail when they were on their way to Christ's manger. The
baby figure symbolizes the Christ child that the wise men were heading
to meet.
King Cake will be available every day this week for $12.99 each.

Cellar 101 Six For Sixty - Month of February 101 S. Main Street
|
Six For Sixty for the month of February
Cellar 101's version of the Stimulus Package.
These wines, when purchased separately, are over $75.00.
But by the six in a pack for $59.99 (while supplies last).
Simonet Sparkling
Clean, crisp and refreshing. Enticing floral aromas with a fruity palate. This sparkling wine is for all occasions. Enjoy chilled
Domaine De Pouy
Clear, pale straw color, with distinct citrus aromas - lime, mostly, and a dash of tangerine - with a background note of fresh herbs. Flavors are consistent with the nose, snappy citrus shaped by sharp, cleansing acidity that makes it a natural food wine. Its mouth-watering character makes it a natural to serve cold as a refresher on a spring or summer day, but allowing it to warm in the glass opens up a bit more complexity and texture, and unveils a pleasant bitter-almond character in the long finish..
Les Printanieres Muscadet
Fine and characteristic aromas evoke vine flower, apple, haymaking, citrus fruits. Tender, fresh and delicate.Perfect with seafood and fish
Independent Producers Merlot
Merlot has gotten a bad rap as of late but there is no denying the wine's appeal. This dark ruby colored Merlot opens with a mild black cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced, and juicy. The flavor profile is an oak infused black cherry with a touch of black pepper. The finish is dry and subtle. This is a very tasty and easy to drink everyday red. It would pair perfectly with a grilled Angus burger smothered with sautéed mushrooms. Instantly appealing and an obvious alternative to similar, more tannic Bordeaux varieties.
Rock Creek Red Blend
Big and friendly, with jammy red plums and cherries all over. It's a mouthfilling fruit bomb in the best of ways, great for pizza, spaghetti, or anything else you might have on a Tuesday night. No new oak was used, and the fruit was sourced from Columbia Valley Vineyards, near the Dalles
New Age Rose
A purple red colour with very seductive and attractive violet shades. The wild raspberry aroma invades the glass. In the mouth, sweet memories of sugar flakes, red fruits and violet flowers invite us to stay trapped in its magic. It is a wine to drink anywhere and on any occasion, but best enjoyed very chilled and outdoors with good friends! Just in time for Valentines Day!
Cellar 101 Is located at 101 S. Main Street in The Mitchell Building.

Dear All,
Did you know that February is the shortest month of the year and has less than 30 days? Typically it has 28 days as it does this year, 2010. When February contains 29 days, it is called 'Leap Year'. The next Leap Year will be in 2012. So you only have a limited number of days left this month to shop your favorite stores in Fuquay-Varina. Stop by and visit with me when you are in the neighborhood!
