FVRA Town Center Plan Presentation at Town Hall
Tuesday, September 15 at 6:30 pm |
Mike Sorensen, Planning Director for the Town of Fuquay-Varina will present the Town Center Overlay Plan to the Fuquay-Varina Revitalization Association on Tuesday, September 15th at 6:30 pm in Town Hall.
If you are interested in learning more about the Town Center Plan, the Fuquay-Varina Revitalizaton Assocation would like to extend an invitation to you to attend this meeting to learn more about the benefits of the plan.
The goal of the Town Center plan, which is under review by our Town Commissioners, is to set guidelines in place that will help further downtown's development as a viable destination of mixed-used development with architectural continuity in a pedestrian-friendly atmosphere that provides unique shopping and living opportunities. The plan will help guide downtown's growth so that our center city can retain its charm, heritage and small town atmosphere.
Please join us on Tuesday, September 15 at 6:30 pm to learn more about this plan. A public hearing on the plan will be held at a later date. This meeting is only a presentation. No RSVP is required.

The 10th Annual Fuquay-Varina Garden Tour is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 10 am - 5 pm and Sunday, September 20, 1 pm - 5 pm. Tour tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Ashley's Art Gallery, Butterfield Interiors, Elliott's Pharmacy, Garden Hut, Magnolia House Custom Framing, Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio, and at the F-V Chamber of Commerce, through Saturday, September 20. On the days of the Tour, tickets may be purchased at the Gardens or Garden Hut.
The closing Reception will be Sunday, September 20 at 5:15 pm at the Garden Hut, 1004 Old Honeycutt Rd. All ticket holders are invited to hear Guest Speaker, Suzanne Edney, Artist and Garden Consultant, and enjoy refreshments. Raffle Drawings for 2 framed prints valued over $500 each and Stained Glass Artwork will be available and Door Prizes.
The prints have been donated by Rick Mullen of Ashley's Art Gallery and Shirley Hunsberger of Magnolia House Custom Framing and can be viewed in advance at either location. The Stained Glass Artwork has been donated by Not Afraid of Color. Call for more information 744-4274.

InterAct's Authors Series takes place quarterly and allows the community the opportunity to hear from a local author, while learning about InterAct's services for families impacted by domestic violence and rape/sexual assault.

| Antique Automobile Club of America Vintage Brass Nickel Tour

Many of you may remember the Brass Nickel Tour that came to Fuquay-Varina in 1999. The tour will be here again the week of October 26-30 with a display on Main Street the evening of Wednesday, October 28 from 5-9 pm. More than 90 cars manufactured prior to 1931 are part of this Antique Automobile Club of America Vintage Tour which includes registrants from 30 states. The car owners, their families and drivers (many cars are brought in on 18 wheelers!) will be based in Fuquay-Varina for the week and travel during the day to other towns, but they've agreed to let us take a peek at their cars on Wednesday, October 28, so make plans to see these beauties from another era and hear their stories from the owners. Main Street will be closed to motor traffic the night of the event.
Let's make our guests feel very welcome! You will know them by the antique cars they drive!

I want to thank the Fuquay Cruisers for a very successful series this summer! Their dedication is truly commendable! Our last Cruise-In was this past Friday and even though it rained, many of them came to downtown and stuck it out during the pouring rain. These guys and gals are a true Fuquay-Varina asset - very community oriented and we are blessed to have them. Thanks to all of you for your help in making this summer's series such a success!
