Downtown Easter Egg Hunt - Saturday, April 11 at 10 am
The Easter Bunny hops in to downtown on Saturday, April 11 bringing 9000 candy and toy filled eggs and over 30 special eggs with special prizes.  The event will be held at the Fuquay Mineral Spring Park and Inn and will have three separate hunts by age group starting at different times.

The schedule for the FVRA Easter Egg Hunt and locations are as follows:
      10:00 am - Up to Age 2 will be located behind the Fuquay Mineral Spring Inn;
      10:15 am - Ages 3, 4 and 5 will be located on the Fuquay Mineral Spring Inn Lawn;
      10:30 am - Ages 6-10 will be located at the Fuquay Mineral Spring Park.

Parents are strongly encouraged to let their children hunt for eggs on their own as this makes the adventure more fun for the little ones and fair to all the children involved in the event. Children up to 10 years old are welcome.

Here are some other things to note.  If your little one finds a special egg, redeem it for a prize at the prize table located at the Masonic Lodge.  Bring a basket. Parents will also want to bring a camera to capture a photo with the Easter Bunny who will arrive about 9:30 a.m.  Each hunt will start on time so please be prompt!  There will be plenty of volunteers to help guide you.  Look for folks in orange jackets and/or bunny ears if you need directions or help.

In case of a drenching rain, take your children to the Fuquay-Varina Community Center located at 820 S. Main Street between 10:00-11:00 a.m. and Easter Eggs will be handed out.  If there's just a sprinkle, the event will be held.

The Fuquay Mineral Spring Inn is located at 333 South Main Street (Hwy. 401) just south of historic downtown Fuquay-Varina.  The Fuquay Mineral Spring Park is located directly across from the Inn.  Parking is available in the large parking lot across from Cooley's Restaurant and on side streets in downtown Fuquay-Varina.

The Easter Egg Hunt is sponsored by the Fuquay-Varina Revitalization Association, the Town of Fuquay-Varina, Engstrom & Cheek Orthodontics, David Anthony Gifts,the Fuquay Mineral Spring Inn, Jazzercise, Johnson Pond Learning Center, Main Street Dance, Magnolia Custom House Framing, the Masonic Lodge and Patriot State Bank.

An Update from the Mitchell Building
If you haven't yet, please check out our website and the latest blogs and photos by going to www.themitchellfv.com:

The roof on the building is now fully installed and totally leak-free !  Getting some rain over the last couple of weeks was a great leak test.  If you happen to drive by or stop at the stoplights at the corner of South Main and Academy Streets you'll also notice that new coping has been installed on the parapets.  Really would have preferred to restore the old concrete coping, but it was cost-prohibitive and might have compromised the roof warranty.  We think it looks pretty good though.

Solar panels have now been installed on the roof as well !  These are ¼" thick, flexible panels laid down with adhesive, flush with the roof.  Our latest blog has links where you'll find a basic explanation of how these panels will feed electricity back into the 'grid' once they are fully wired.  You can also see photo's of these panels being installed by Baker Roofing.  Or just click on this link...  http://www.flickr.com/photos/themitchellfv/

Wiring of these panels is up next and meetings with Progress, the Town and contractors are under way.  Our hope is to activate them very soon.  We will keep you posted on our progress.

We'd love to hear your comments.  Please go to our blog via our website or at this link... http://themitchellfv.com/cgi-bin/wordpress/index.php to post a comment.

Don't miss this opportunity to get a rare inside look at some of Fuquay-Varina's historic architectural gems as you explore the Historic Fuquay Springs neighborhood and downtown Varina, both listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  Highlights include the Johnson-Vuncannon home, an impressive Georgian-Revival home nestled among one-hundred foot trees; the Proctor House, a Dutch-Revival home; and the Roy and Geraldine Tilley house, a modernist residence designed by Durham architect John D. Latimer, and many more!

In conjunction with the Landmarks Tour, CAP and the WCHPC will also co-host two other Fuquay-Varina events: a talk by Lauri Michel, Vice President for Community Revitalization of the National Trust for Historic Preservation at the Fuquay-Varina Women's Club Clubhouse on Thursday April 23 at 7:00 p.m. and the Annual Wake County Preservation Celebration at the Fuquay Mineral Springs Inn immediately following the Tour on Saturday.  All three events -- Tour, Talk and Celebration -- kick-off National Historic Preservation Month in Wake County and mark Fuquay-Varina's 100th Anniversary.

Tickets:  The Thursday night talk by Ms. Michel is free and open to the public thanks to a generous grant from the Wake County Board of Commissioners.  Ticket prices for the Tour are: $10.00 for adult tickets purchased in advance and for members of the sponsoring organizations.  On the day of the Tour: $12.00 for adults; and $5.00 for children 7-17; children under 6 are free. Tour tickets include admission to the Wake County Preservation Celebration.

Advance tickets for the Tour are available now in Raleigh at Capital Area Preservation, Inc.
