| The Hunt 100 - Take the Centennial Challenge
100 Years of History from March 13-28
BEGINS THIS FRIDAY, MARCH 6 IN DOWNTOWN FUQUAY-VARINA |
Fuquay-Varina just celebrated its 100th birthday and the Fuquay-Varina Revitalization Association has come up with a creative way to celebrate this milestone and educate folks about Fuquay-Varina's past. From March 13-28, The Hunt 100, a scavenger hunt, will use historical photographs placed in downtown businesses to answer eighteen questions about Fuquay-Varina's history. There are also five tie-breaker questions that will really test your knowledge of downtown Fuquay-Varina.
To make it easier to play, a map with all the business locations and hours are on the Hunt 100 game piece. In fact, it is very easy to go from one store to the next using the map and clues and should take about an hour and half to complete. Participants have 15 days to complete their game piece so spread it over several lunch hours or make an afternoon of it. A game piece with 18 questions, 5 bonus questions and directions on how to play the Hunt 100 is available in a full page in the Fuquay-Varina Independent on March 11.
DOWNLOAD THE GAME PIECE NOW AT www.Fuquay-VarinaDowntown.com.
The game piece is also available at the Fuquay-Varina Community Center, the Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerce and at these participating stores: Ann's Diamond Center, Ashworth Clothing, Cooley's Restaurant, David Anthony Gifts, Elliotts Pharmacy, Elmo's Clothing, Family Optical, Fuquay Sports Shop, K' n B Brew & Browse, Lazy Lion Books, Merle Norman, My Back Porch, Pass It On Consignment, , Patriot State Bank, Rainbow Home Interior, Stick Boy Bread Company, Toy Town Hobby Shop and the Shoppes of Varina Merchantile.
"I like to call this the Centennial Challenge since there are 100 years of history, 100 shopping hours during the hunt and three $100 prizes that will be given away," said Susan Weis, Executive Director of the Fuquay-Varina Revitalization Association. "We've worked very closely with the Centennial Committee on this project and we are hoping for lots of participation. The photos are absolutely fabulous and vividly tell the story of Fuquay-Varina. I think people will really enjoy looking at them."
To enter a drawing to win one of the three downtown gift certificates, visit each of the businesses participating in the Hunt 100, answer all eighteen questions and get a stamp at each participating business. There is a limit of one entry per family. Mail or drop your completed game piece form to FVRA at 121 N. Main Street, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526. Forms can also be dropped at participating merchants. The deadline for returning forms for the gift certificate drawing is 5 pm on March 28.
