A Campus Ministry for ALL Students, Supported by the Episcopal and Lutheran Churches
Sunday and Wednesday Worship: 7:00 p.m., free suppers at 6:15
510 N. Guadalupe (across from the Tower Garage)
Our Purpose: In gratitude for God's mercy in Christ, we shall be a community of worship, service, and hospitality. |
WESSENDORFF: A RETREAT LIKE NO OTHER
What's Wessendorff? It's a beautiful multi-hundred acre retreat facility just 30 miles from San Marcos. We'll relax, eat, play games, and learn about spiritual practices that match our spiritual gifts. Our guest speaker will be Jay Graves. When? September 30 through October 2nd. How much? $10, which covers all meals, transportation, and a bed to sleep in. To register, contact us by e-mail and we'll figure it out from there. |
REAL FOOD
We eat to live, we eat to share, we eat for joy. At Christ Chapel, we also eat often. Every Sunday night, enjoy a home-cooked meal at 6:15. Stay for worship at 7:00. On Wednesdays, we join UCM-Wesley for their dinner at 6:15, followed by Ignight at 7:00. Christ Chapel will be cooking for UCM on October 5th; if you like to cook and can help, come to the Christ Chapel kitchen at 3:00 (or later) on Wednesday afternoon. |

IGNIGHT
Ignight is our Wednesday evening time together. Every Wednesday night is different, but almost always includes some songs, a prayer, and then something important to talk about or do. On Wednesday the 25th, we'll make communion bread together, and we'll make enough so you can take some home, too. On October 5, it's "Which Bible is right for you?" Night, in honor of Bible translator William Tyndale. October 12 is "Living Strong: Naming Your Strengths Without Being Obnoxious About It." October 19th: A Service of Healing, in honor of St. Luke. October 26th: "Naming Your Desires: A Guide to the Right Career." And on November 2nd: "Putting Christ Back in Halloween: The Real Meaning of the Day, Plus Pumpkin Decorating."
October 11 - Late-Night Breakfast Bible Study!
We'll gather at 10:00 p.m. in the kitchen at Christ Chapel for pancakes, sausage, eggs, bacon, orange juice, and coffee, followed by a brief Bible study. Come a little earlier if you would like to help cook. This is, weirdly enough, one of our most popular events. If you haven't experienced it, your especially invited. |

God Goes to the Movies: October 20th, 8:00 p.m.
Join us to watch on our entirely awesome 42" flat-screen with surround-sound and Blue-Ray DVD player "Super 8." In 1979, after the Air Force closes a section of Area 51, all materials are transported to a secure facility in Ohio. A train carrying some of the materials derails during an accident and something escapes from one of the cargo cars. A group of kids making movies with their Super 8 cameras accidentally capture what escapes on film. Silliness, or does the movie say something important about our culture and our fears? And where's God in it all? Popcorn provided. Bring a friend.

HIGHER GROUNDS COFFEE HOUSE
Our free, fairly traded and organic coffee is now open Mondays through Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. We also have free tea, and for a limited time, free cocoa. You can drink it in the lounge or take it with you. And, by the way, it's free. Tell people about this place; we've got wi-fi also, and it's a great place to study. |

REVIEWS
Charlie's Angels: Truly, spectacularly awful, so terribly written that words will not suffice. So laughably and poorly acted that one's eyes burn. Immeasurably bad. Of course, I won't miss a single episode. The original was a staple of my high-school television watching, even though it was not very good, either. The new version is just so far beyond unwatchable that it has come full-circle again. Do not watch this show if you are lactose-intolerant, specifically if you have a reaction to cheese. There is a busload of it here.
Lady Bobcat Volleyball:
Six bucks gets you into Strahan Coliseum to see some of the best sports action you can find anywhere. Bobcat volleyball players are just ridiculously good athletes. The speed and power they exhibit play after play is like watching leopards run. Above all, they've got way more courage than me. Jumping up to block a kill shot means your face can be where the volleyball lands at 80 mph. I'm just too pretty for that kind of game, but I'll watch it any day. |
Our campus mission is to be a welcoming spiritual community, a place for people of any gender, race, national origin, and sexual orientation. Growing together in faith, we seek the unity that Christ envisions for His church through learning, liturgical worship, service, and fellowship. |
