A Campus Ministry for ALL Students, Supported by the Episcopal and Lutheran Churches

Sunday and Wednesday Worship: 7:00 p.m., free supper at 6:15 510 N. Guadalupe (across from the Tower Garage)
NON-LOCK-IN LOCK-IN LATE NIGHT BREAKFAST MOVIE AND GAME NIGHT MAY 4th!
I don't know what else to call Tuesday, May 4th.  We will open the doors at 7:00 p.m. for movies, games, and breakfast (10:00 p.m.)  In between, there will be mayhem in the form of Foam Dart Wars; we've 120 of them ready to fly.  We'll also play Sardines, sort of a reverse version of hide and seek.  The Wii will be available, and even some quiet space for studying.  Come and stay as long as you would like; we won't shut down until everyone goes away.
HIGHER GROUNDS COFFEE HOUSE OPEN THROUGH FINALS
coffee cupHigher Grounds Coffee House will stay open pretty much all day throughout finals.  Remember, it's a house, not a shop, because the coffee is free, so there's nothing shop-like about it.   We serve free, fair-trade organic coffee and have a selection of teas as well.  Hook up to the Wi-Fi, study, get your caffiene on, relax, whatever.   Higher Grounds is located near the entry to Christ Chapel, 510 N. Guadalupe. You are also invited to join our Facebook fan page!
A DEGREE IN WHAT MATTERS

"I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve."  So said Albert Schweitzer to a graduating class many years ago, and it is still true.  Some from our community will be graduating in a few days, with degrees as diverse as music and international business.  The degree doesn't matter nearly as much as the degree to which you understand your true life's work, which is, in the words of the Westminster Catechism, to glorify God and enjoy God forever. That happens not only in worship and in our spiritual life, but most concretely and incarnately through the work of our hands and minds, whatever the field.  If you are graduating, find that way to serve through whatever work you do.  If you are still facing more class time, realize that for right now, your studies are the means by which God is shaping you for whatever holy work is ahead of you.  And yes, it is holy work, because to serve is a God-like thing.  After all, that is exactly what God has done for us in Christ.  Have a great summer, all of you, and I can't wait to see you next Fall.  You will be in my prayers. Particularly you. Pastor JB
SUMMER SERVICE SCHEDULE: MAY 10 - AUGUST 15, SUNDAY EVENINGS AT 7:00 While we won't have suppers most Sunday nights, we will meet to worship at 7:00 throughout the summer, except on July 4th.  Students, faculty, staff, and members of the community are all welcome.  Look for special potlucks, picnics, and other recreational and service opportunities along the way; they will also be part of our summer schedule.
Reviews

Gran Torino
Put it on a list of must-see movies.  This is a great film about redemption, transformation, sacrifice, and the ability of love to transcend seemingly insurmountable barriers.  Clint Eastwood can quit acting now; he'll never be this good again.

Droid Smartphones
I like mine a lot, and I don't know how to do half the stuff with it that it can do.  Because the apps don't go through the same screening process as I-Phone apps, there are a lot of ridiculous ones that don't do much and can lock up easily, but they are usually red-flagged by reviewers so you can avoid them.  One Bible app includes Eugene Peterson's The Message Bible, which puts the texts in modern idioms, sometimes with fresh results.  Anyway, lots of fun buttons and shiny things.  I like that in a gadget.  5 stars.

Our campus mission is to be a welcoming spiritual community, a place for people of any gender, race, national origin, and sexual orientation. Growing together in faith, we seek the unity that Christ envisions for His church through learning, liturgical worship, service, and fellowship.
