HAVE A GREAT SPRING BREAK!!!
We won't have worship services this week while we are on Spring Break, but will resume on March 14th, with a free supper at 6:15 and worship at 7:00.  See you there!

coffee cupCOMING SOON!  HIGHER GROUNDS COFFEE SHOP

Shortly after Spring Break, we will have the grand opening of Higher Grounds Coffee Shop.  It's a place to get free, fair-trade organic coffee, hook up to the Wi-Fi, hang out, study, relax, whatever.  Yes, it is free.  Free.  As in no charge.  We'll accept donations to keep the operation going, but just come in and get some coffee for free.  Did I mention it's free?  Higher Grounds is located near the entry to Christ Chapel, 510 N. Guadalupe.  Operating hours: 7:45 a.m. until at least 10:45 a.m. Monday through Thursday, but expanded hours are in the works.
Lenten Lunches
Lunches on Wednesdays at noon are part of St. Mark's Episcopal's Lenten tradition, as are speakers on subjects of interest to people of faith. This year's theme is "Inkling" and features Texas State professors discussing the work of of C.S. Lewis' writing group by that name.  Lewis, Tolkein, Dorothy Sayers and G.K. Chesterton all took part in the "Inklings," and the discussion should be great. St. Mark's has asked to use Christ Chapel's kitchen and hall for the event, and we are glad to oblige them.

Seder Supper - March 31st

An annual tradition is our Seder Supper, a chance to enjoy a nice meal together and to learn something of the traditions of our Jewish friends.  This is NOT a passover celebration, but a time to learn and more fully understand at least something of the context in which the Lord's Supper emerged.  This year, students from other campus ministries are invited, so we have to limit participation to the first 30 from Christ Chapel who sign up.  Just send an e-mail to me or tell me in person, and you will be included in this free, but reservations required meal.  This is open to students, faculty, staff, mentors, and friends, but again, there is only room for 30.
Also This Month...

March 24:  Stations of the Cross at First Christian Church, San Marcos.  We will leave from Christ Chapel together after our 6:15 supper.

March 25: Jesus at the Pub, Tantra Coffee Shop, 7:30 p.m. "What's the Deal with the Rapture?" will be our theme.

Reviews

Elections
They happened, and some people won and others didn't.  Those who won are those who refused to denigrate the character of those they ran against.  Those who lost are the ones who resorted to name-calling, inuendo, distortions and other violations of the 8th commandment.
Unfortunatly, some of those will be serving in elected office. The debasement of public discourse is something we should not encourage, be it political or religious, even if it is Brother Jed doing the talking.  Just ignore him, and just ignore those who tear down others instead of building up.  That works well for personal conversations as well, by the way.
God Goes to the Movies: March 17, 8:00 p.m. - "Up"

UpBy tying thousands of balloon to his home, 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen sets out to fulfill his lifelong dream to see the wilds of South America. Right after lifting off, however, he learns he isn't alone on his journey, since Russell, a wilderness explorer 70 years his junior, has inadvertently become a stowaway on the trip. Can this Pixar movie have anything to say about God?  Come find out with us.
