Friends, 
It has been great to meet so many of you when I've been out on the Quad.  Come by and say hi; I'm the one sitting at the table with the Higher Ground banner.  In the meantime, here are a few important reminders and some new information...
Thanksgiving Thoughts...

If this is your first time home since starting college, things will be different and maybe a little weird.  Parents and friends back home have gone on with their lives, while you've begun some significant changes of your own.  You will be discovering new ways of being together, with new perspectives and maybe a new appreciation for each other.  So don't be surprised if things are a little awkward at first, and don't hesitate to say thanks this Thanksgiving to all those who love you back home.  When all is said and done, family and friends are among the greatest of blessings, without which a Thanksgiving feast, no matter how delicious, wouldn't taste nearly as good.
Service of Healing, Supper of Pancakes, Study Break of Syrup

pancakesA healing service is not just for the sick, but for anyone stressed about finals, life, relationships, loved ones, the planet, the nations.  Come to the All Saint's Chapel in the basement of St. Mark's Episcopal on Wednesday, December 5th for the last healing service of the year.  The service begins at 5:30; a pancake and sausage supper will be served at 6:15, courtesy of our friends at Living Word Lutheran in Buda.  No reservations needed, no previous experience required.  You are welcome, wanted, and cherished by God, so come join us on Wednesday nights, and don't forget Sunday worship with Holy Communion at 7:00 p.m., another free supper at 6:15, now through December 9th.

rebuilding
Plans are underway for "What A Relief!" Spring Break, where we'll travel to the New Orleans area to help rebuild homes and lives.  There will be a retreat to Camp Lutherhill in February, a Seder Supper, a Theology in Film series, some fun stuff around town and nearby, and lots more.  I know your e-mail box gets full, but please give these a read.  Higher Ground is a place FOR YOU.
