ILCP
NEWS
July2008

Dear ILCP Community,

I hope all is going well for all of you. In addition to the news below, we have a couple of updates and announcements. First, we have hired a new staff person in the ILCP office to help us stay organized as we grow. Rachel Elmendorf will be working with us full time and helping with events planning, coordinating sales of our upcoming book A Climate for Life, helping with budgets and accounting, and we imagine a lot of other important things! So welcome Rachel!

Second, we have rescheduled our RAVE on the borderlands of the United States and Mexico. The presidential campaign, olympics and congressional campaigning, makes the likelihood of any real legislative action against the border fence slim at best. Our partners on Capitol Hill, in the press, and in environmental nonprofits have counseled us that the greatest impact from our expedition will be attained if we wait for the next Congress and president to take office. So we are planning the RAVE for late January/early February, to coincide with the introduction of conservation legislation at that time. We will of course keep you up to date on the progress of this project.

We would also like to welcome our newest members:

Affiliates: Jacob Scherr, Natural Resources Defence Council
Gina Buchanan, Video production manager, Conservation International
Charles Kogod, Photo Editor at Defenders of Wildlife
Sue Flood, filmmaker
Doug Allen, filmmaker

Cheers!
Krista
