Extra Handy Tips!

Greetings!
"The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of
strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will." --Vince Lombardi
If you own your own business, you know to make money you have to spend money. Most of that money goes to advertising. In a down economy, some businesses reduce costs by reducing their marketing. Research shows that companies that continue to market during a down economy emerge stronger when the economy picks up than those who don't.
Whatever marketing plan you implement, make sure to have systems in place to handle the response to your advertising. Adrienne Zoble wrote in her Marketing Myth #42about a remodeler who found a successful way to advertise, but found the effort was harder work than his current staff wanted to do.
Many people I talk to feel that way about newsletters and mailings. They see the value in low cost marketing like: blogging, social media, email newsletters and personalized cards, but are too busy to keep up the extra effort. It does take time to create content, format, and maintain lists.
If what you are doing is working, but you don't have the systems in place to do it easily, both Adrienne and I suggest hiring someone to do it for you...like a Virtual Assistant!

Constant Contact
|
Big Business Look at Small Business Price!
Make every contact count. Email Marketing is a cost-effective medium to get a message out to the masses on a small budget. For most, direct mail is too expensive for a one-touch medium--it only goes to the recipient it is addressed to. With a direct mail piece, your recipients would never copy and send your postcard to 20 friends. Email, however, is easy to share. Simply click on the forward button and send the message to an entire email group.
Tip: Use easy to read, HTML coded templates to create expensive looking emails on a affordable budget.
Constant Contact offers over 400 professionally designed, fully customizeable templates from postcard promotions to full newsletters. With an extensive image library and easy image upload feature, you can add any image or logo to your email. You can change any color to match your company style sheet. If you don't have a color style sheet, but have specific to your company colors, download Color Cop for a free, quick, easy to use tool to match the color code for any color!

Send Out Cards
|
Create a Campaign to make staying in touch easy!
What would you do if you spent the time to create one card but every time you added a new person to your contact manager, that new contact would get that card, with just a click of a button? Send Out Card's campaign feature allows you to do just that.
Tip: Campaigns take time to set up, but save you time in the long run.
When my Grandma Roz passed away a few years ago, the one memory told of her that I heard over and over was how she never forgot to send a birthday card. It became important to me to carry on that family tradition. Before finding Send Out Cards, I spent hours creating cards, printing them out, signing them, addressing the envelopes and mailing them.
Now each year, I create three Birthday card campaigns: one for adults, one for a young boy and one for a young girl. Now each month, I pull up the birthdays and click the button for the right Birthday Campaign. You can schedule campaigns to be sent at any time, so if I wanted to, I could schedule March's birthdays in January!
For Business, try creating a New Client campaign with a Welcome card, three and six month check in cards, and a one year anniversary card. Tell Send Out Cards the schedule and add the contacts.

Promotional Products

Be Creative with Products!
Promotional products have changed as much as cell phones in the last 10 years. It's not just a pen and a t-shirt industry anymore. When I walk the Expo show floor every January checking out the new products that Suppliers roll out, I'm amazed at the diversity of styles, price points, and ideas that are developed each year. Like the environment...Going Green? There are so many eco-friendly products that have popped onto the scene in the last few years and more are added all the time.
Tip: Put your Logo and/or company name on
everything from the clothes you wear to the items you use as giveaways!
We drive around with bumper stickers for elected officials and propositions. Why not drive around with your company logo and message displayed proudly? Rather than promoting some other company, proudly wear your logo on your chest.
Pick a product that has the potential to start a conversation. My promotion division is called Extra Special Promotions. My friend made me a shirt that says, "I have E.S.P. I know you'll talk to me!" with Extra Special Promotions on the back. When I wore that to a tradeshow, everyone DID talk to me! What product or message will start a conversation for you?
