- MAYA ANGELOU In this day of constant communication from email to twitter updates, we are using more kinds of technologies to stay in touch. People have computers that fit in the palm of their hand and are checking their email and surfing the web on their phones. My daughter is selling Girl Scout cookies. To help her sell her 150 boxes, I sent out an email to all my friends and family. My friend replied to my email to order cookies and remarked how easy it
would have been for us to sell more cookies, 27 years ago if email had
been more popular. I so agree! Although technology has vastly improved the speed in which we communicate, it is still highly subjective to how we personalize those communications. Social Media still requires a personal element and promotion-only email can get shunted to the junk folder. As Maya Angelou said, it isn't just that you have to send something, you need to give a little of yourself to make someone's day. |

Email is one of the best technologies for connecting with your current customers and prospective clients. 91% of 18-64 year olds send or read email. 65 and older are the fastest growing demographic for Internet users, with most claiming email and staying in touch as the primary reason for getting a computer. People are checking their email every where: at work, home, and on their phones.
Tip: Make it easy for your readers to see your message on their phone.

When you receive a card in the mail, you don't worry about a computer crashing virus. You can tell by the size of the envelope it isn't a bill, so you tear into the envelope to see what specialness awaits you inside.
Tip: A picture says a thousand words. When I visited my nephew for his birthday, I took many adorable pictures of him at the park, including a funny one playing peek-a-boo. - 48% would like to receive promotional products more often
- 38% feel promotional products serve as constant reminders of the advertiser
- 69% generally keep the promotional product if they have a use for it
- 35% will keep the product if they like the advertiser
Tip: Pick an item that connects your business with your message.
