Having 2nd Thoughts

Have you ever pressed "send" on an email, only to remember something seconds later that you meant to include in the email? Or perhaps you forgot to attach an important document and now have to send yet another email?
If you're using MS® Outlook, you can set up a Rule that holds your outgoing emails for a designated amount of time before they actually leave the Outbox. Mine is set up for 1 minute but you can choose any amount of time. If you think of something you forgot or need to change in your email, you can quickly find it sitting in your Outbox. Here are directions for both 2007 and 2010 versions of Outlook.
Outlook 2007:
- While in your email Inbox, click on Tools, then Rules and Alerts

- Click on New Rule > Under the section "Start from a blank rule", click Apply Rule on Messages I Send > Next
- In the next view, you don't have to check any box if you want the rule to apply to ALL of your outgoing emails. If there are specific emails you want to apply the rule to, click the boxes of those that apply.
- In the Step 1 box: Click the box in front of "defer delivery by a number of minutes"
- In the Step 2 box below Step 1 click on the phrase "a number of"
- Enter number of minutes you'd like your email to sit in the Outbox before actually sending. Click Next.
- In the next view you can click on any exceptions you'd like. If you don't have any, simply click Next.
- In finishing this Rule, you'll need to name this rule. Be specific, such as Delay Sending of Email, as you may want to make adjustments or changes to this rule in the future and it will make finding it easier.
- Click Finish.
Outlook 2010:
- While in your email Inbox, click on "Rules" in the Home Tab Ribbon
 - Next, follow Steps 2-9 above.
