The "Why's" behind using multiple calendars
|
|
The phrase "Less is More" can be applied in many situations, including keeping things simple and streamlined in the office. For example, keeping both personal and work-related appointments on one calendar serves many well. It helps to see at-a-glance what's going on at work and at home.
But sometimes you've got a super big project going on, with many moving parts and a complicated timeline. For example, the launch of a new product. In this case having a separate calendar devoted to this project would serve not just you but your entire team well.
To add a new calendar within MS® Outlook, Go to File > New > Calendar.
Once your calendar has been created, you can now choose which calendar(s) you want to view at one time. This screen grab shows two calendars showing on December 6.

By having these two calendars side-by-side, you can easily see what's going on and what meetings/events overlap. It helps prevent the "needing to be two places at once" syndrome. You can always unclick one of the calendars (in the Navigation column on the left side) when you don't need it.
