Viewing Today's Tasks

The Task List feature within MS® Outlook is one of those best kept secrets. Less than 10 percent of Outlook users are currently using the Task List because they are simply unaware of its capabilities. In my Outlook training session I demonstrate a variety of ways to use it and people are always amazed at what they've been missing.
Here are 3 reasons why you should consider it:
- It beats a paper To Do List. No re-writing or transferring information to a new list each day.
- It takes the place of all those sticky notes you've got staring at you from around your computer screen or laying on your desk.
- You can integrate email and other attachments into a Task, thus having exact information when and where you need it.
In MS® Outlook 2007 the Tasks are viewed using the To-Do Bar. While viewing your Calendar or Inbox, click on View in the Tool Bar, then To-Do Bar and then Normal. Make sure you place a check before Task List.
By clicking on Options you can customize deeper as to how much information you want to appear in the To-Do Bar such as future appointments and tasks.
To create a new Task or To-Do Item, simply double click on the cell entitled "Type a new task". This will open a screen for you to input the name of your task as well as a Start/Due Date, reminder, etc.
Spend a few minutes right now getting the To-Do Bar set up and create a few tasks from those sticky notes staring back at you.
