SoBe Institute of the Arts Grand Opening Cabaret

HELD OVER BY POPULAR DEMAND
MIAMI BEACH, FL -- Carson Kievman, Executive Artistic Director of SoBe Institute of the Arts today announced that due to sold out performances of the Grand Opening Cabaret, SoBe Arts was forced to turn away patrons at the door this past weekend, and has therefore extended the limited run and added two additional performances this Friday and Saturday (January 22 and 23) at 9pm.  SoBe Arts has welcomed the New Year with a fresh and compelling multimedia arts cabaret to celebrate the renovation and reopening of the Little Stage Theater @ SoBe Arts, and South Florida audiences have responded with enthusiasm.  The Grand Opening Cabaret features an innovative and stylized experience that incorporates musical and visual elements from the 1930s and 1940s, around the time the 1937 theater was first built.   Starring Ivette Vias, Andrés Lefevre , Philip de la Cal and Montserrat Franco (as Betty Boop), the cabaret intersperses original torch songs with theatrical vignettes from other eras, which melded together makes for a bizarre and compelling look at relationships. There are also scenes from the popular "Tunes 'N Toons" production that was commissioned by Miami Beach to close November's Sleepless Night event, combining esoteric live music from the 1930's with classic film animation and live action.  Bar and tapas by Red Light restaurant are available at all performances.

Tickets for the cabaret this Friday and Saturday are $25 and can be purchased by calling 305-674-9220, visiting the website, http://sobearts.org or visiting SoBe Institute of the Arts in person weekdays 12:00-7:00PM at 2100 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach.
