The unique and multifaceted immersion program is designed not only to be fun and exciting, but also to help the students develop a deepened sense of musical phrase, structure and form, as well as improve their performance skills. Next year, we will also be providing a new musical theater component to the program Monday through Friday and a Music Program for Toddlers will be scheduled in the mornings starting in January, 2008.

Thanks to the Firestone Family Foundation any donation for SoBe Music Institute this year will be matched on a one to one basis by the generosity of the foundation - Every time our supporter's donations reach $1,000, the foundation will donate another $1,000 to the institute (up to $5,000).   This could mean up to $10,000 for our mission!  SoBe Music Institute offers high quality instruction to children, seniors and adults based on desire, talent and potential apart from someone's socio-economic situation - we need everyone's help to continue our mission.    Every $1 raised is $2 for the Institute and impacts our goal of a world-class Institute of the Arts for Miami Beach and Greater Miami-Dade County. If you were thinking of making a tax-deductible donation to us by the end of the year, now is a perfect time to maximize the impact you make on quality arts education in all our communities.

For more information or to offer a matched donation call us today at (305) 674-9220

Thank you for your generosity, even a donation of $25 will make a big difference if all our friends participate.  All donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law through our nonprofit 501 (c) (3) arts and education parent organization, Mystery Park Arts Company, Inc.

MICRO-LISTENING
a microphone building workshop
conducted by isaw's

Our Partner, ISAW Interdisciplinary Sound Arts Workshop, is presenting a 2-day Sound Arts Workshop at SoBe Music Institute.
The Micro-Listening Project is an art/science strategy for increasing the monitoring of our environment through sound. It hopes to provide new inexpensive technologies that can facilitate an increase in our collective environmental sensitivity and discovery of unknown natural and human-made phenomena, provide novel tools for sound artists, and contribute towards practical environmental problem solving.

The project focuses upon the design of inexpensive but highly effective audio transducer systems for bioacoustic and sound art monitoring of otherwise hidden aspects of our auditory environment that are not audible through use of conventional microphones.
In addition to these technological advancements for listening, the project seeks to document a wide diversity of such sound worlds for both demonstration of the transducers and general aesthetic revelation of our acoustic environment. Precise instructions on how to use and construct these devices will be part of this workshop. The devices are designed to allow as wide a distribution of their use as possible by both amateurs and professionals.
