AMITYVILLE MAN CHARGED WITH ANIMAL CRUELTY
Suffolk County SPCA officials announced today that they have arrested an Amityville man for Animal Cruelty. Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk SPCA said that his officers, working with officers from the Village of Amityville Police Department, arrested Marquis D. Roker, 22, of 485 Broadway Avenue, Amityville. Roker was charged with Animal Cruelty for allegedly beating, kicking and hanging his grey pit bull by it's collar from a fence in the backyard of his home, on February 2nd, because the dog was barking. Gross said that Roker was observed by a witness, kicking, punching & throwing the dog to the ground all while the dog was yelping and crying. According to the witness, ten minutes later the dog was still barking and Roker came out again beating and slamming the dog to the ground and then grabbed it by its collar and hanged the dog on a fence. The dog was squirming to get down and the witness' intervention saved the dog from further abuse and possibly saved its life. Roker was taken to Village of Amityville Police Headquarters for processing where village police also charged him with Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration.
