SUFFOLK SPCA RESCUES ANIMALS FROM RIDGE HOME

Yesterday, members of the SuffolkCountySPCA's Emergency Animal Response Team (EART) were activated to rescue animals from a home in Ridge after the owner was hospitalized and was unable to care for the animals.  The SPCA Officers responded and found three (3) dogs (a Great Dane and 2 Chihuahuas), four (4) ferrets, three (3) snakes, two (2) cats, and approx twenty (20) rats inside the home.  A pet tarantula was found dead inside the home.  All of the animals were turned over to the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter with the exception of the snakes (Red Tail Boa Constrictors) which were treated for hypothermia by SPCA Veterinarian Dr. Charles Greco. The reptiles will be released to a reptile rescue organization.
