Earth Day is coming up, but at the Educational Alliance's 14th Street Y, every day is a day to go green! The Y has been focusing on greening and sustainability for the past two years -- with the belief that community centers are the ideal location for experimenting with big ideas on a local level.

Among many green improvements, the Y is now recycling & composting throughout the building; incorporating green education & activities in its parenting, preschool and after-school programs; outlining major plans to reduce its eco-footprint through an energy audit; hosting a Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) program; and recently built a green theater and has major plans for a green roof. The Y also ran a green song contest and the winners produced a fun music video -- click above to watch it!
