Cause of the Month: Hunger |
|
Thanksgiving is just around the corner, but for many New Yorkers, finding a warm meal is a daily struggle. Hunger continues to be a major issue citywide. This month, we'll spotlight the many faces of hunger in NYC and how we're supporting them.
Did you know... - 1 in 4 children struggles with hunger in New York City
- 1 in 6 elderly New Yorkers relies on food from soup kitches & food pantries
How we're helping to solve hunger in NYC
At Project ORE, the only kosher lunch program in Manhattan, we serve hot meals to homeless, isolated and mentally-ill senior citizens -- while also offering arts & culture, counseling and case management. At our early childhood and after school programs, we offer free meals and healthy snacks to kids of all ages, many of whom live in local shelters and rely on food stamps.
