Operations are from Mars, Sales from Venus: 5 Keys for Increased Manufacturing Velocity and Profits

Why do our salespeople keep making promises that are nearly impossible to keep? How can we make them see how difficult it is for us to keep up? Why can't they sell what we have rather than forcing us to constantly re-invent the wheel or re-shuffle the schedule?

These are some of the common questions that permeate the shop floor of many companies..

Instead of serving it cold...Don't serve it at all

On a summer day in 1973, my 12 year old sister was riding her horse on the quiet streets near our house. There was a little more traffic than usual as two cars came toward her from opposite directions. Cindy rode onto the well-tended lawn of a stately two-story house to get out of the way. While she waited, her horse relieved himself. She then rode on, unknowing that her steed had left a pile of manure on the emerald zoysia grass.

 NEW! CPIM Certification Examination Policy

APICS certifications are recognized globally as the standard of professional excellence in supply chain and operations management. To ensure the validity of those certifications, APICS will limit the length of time certification exams are valid. Beginning January 1, 2013, exams will have a life span of 10 years from the date the exam is taken.

This policy ensures that candidates who earn APICS certifications have current and relevant knowledge in their field.

With this change in policy, candidates pursuing the APICS CPIM designation will have 10 years from the date of their first successful exam to complete all five modules. If candidates do not earn the certification in this time frame, they will have to retake and pass any exam that has an expired score.

Questions about this policy change?  Please Call APICS Customer Service at 1-800-444-2742 or at service@apics.org .
