January 2010 Professional Development Meeting January 12, 2010 - Seminar & PDM-ALL IN ONE DAY!
A Fresh Viewpoint of S&OP for Factory Operations presented by: John Boyer, CFPIM
For S&OP to be successful, the process must connect from the aggregated top management information to the factory support (buyer/planner) detail. The factory support teams are typically aligning their work to an ERP system either daily or weekly at the part level detail and aren't always connected to top level management's insight. S&OP on the other hand is generally done by top level management at an aggregate product level and only done monthly.
WINTER SEMINAR 2010
Connecting Sales & Operations Planning with the Shop Floor - Here's How presented by: John Boyer, CFPIM
S&OP is a proven top management method for making timely decisions for capacity, labor, fixed cost, capital and key materials based on demand and supply balancing. Many manufacturers have discovered the power of this practice and are successfully applying it to lower cost, provide the best service, and minimize investment. This workshop addresses how to make the output of the S&OP process flow to the shop floor in a way that line/cell rates can be used to facilitate order promising, scheduling and daily shop floor performance >Read more and get the details . . . |
THE UN-COMFORT ZONE with Robert Wilson
Pack Mentality
When my son was two years old, we got a Samoyed puppy, and for the next 18 months they were the best of friends. Then the dog changed. Suddenly she started growling at my son and biting him. At first I thought that maybe he was pulling her tail or something else that was irritating her, but that wasn't it.

Board of Directors Column
Jim Ogren, CFPIM, CIRM, CSCP VIce President Education
As I heard Peter Berglund say many times, "planning is an effective tool, especially when done in advance." We are all familiar with this if we think about planning materials, capacity, etc., but it is even more important when we think about where our careers are going. What is your plan for 2010? And beyond?
