What's in a Name? The Origins of Salland

Salland Flag

The history of Salland goes back to the early Middle Ages. Salland is a historical dominion in the west and north of the present Dutch province of Overijssel. It is probably named after the Salian Franks, who are thought to originate from Salland. The Salian Franks or Salii were a subgroup of the early Franks. From the 3rd century on, the Salian Franks appear in the historical records as warlike Germanic people and pirates who stood their own against the Roman Empire. (Sounds like the guys in the opening scenes of Gladiator!)

No longer preoccupied with fending off the Romans, today, the engineers of Salland Engineering are aggressively pioneering new solutions to meet the ever growing challenges of modern day semiconductor testing. Salland is committed to Extending Your Leadership in Semiconductor Test. Learn more at www.Salland.com

What's in a Name? The Origins of Pintail

Pintail Duck photo

The founder of Pintail was an avid duck hunter in Texas. The migratory Pintail duck is highly prized for its beauty - accentuated by its long pointed tail.

When naming a new company, entrepreneurs need to be mindful that the name they choose be easy to remember, unique and non-offensive throughout the world. Although unusual in it origins, we found over time that the name "Pintail" met these requirements and has become the symbol of leadership in Adaptive Test. See www.pintail.com

Perhaps we will serve duck at the closing ceremonies of our merger with Salland?
