Dear Colleague

Here is some information we think you will find of value.

Pintail and Avago Technologies Expand Adaptive Test Solutions

An important milestone in the growth of the third party test software industry is when key manufacturers begin to collaborate with startups to make their commercial solutions more effective. In this week's attached press release from Pintail, we are happy to describe such collaboration with Avago Technologies. Click here to read the press release.

Read on to learn the significance of this announcement for you.

Advantages of Commercial Test Software Solutions

Startups like Pintail need to have a lot of knowledge and vision to become successful. But it takes years for third party vendors to become as smart as their best customers. It is inevitable that they will however, just like the ATE & EDA vendors did decades earlier.

Historically, chip manufacturers have had to rely upon internal solutions for their test software. These may have been developed by partially funded individual engineers or by labored requests to your IT departments.

Disadvantages of internal solutions include:

n    Minimal user features due to under funded software budgets,

n   Poor support because IT is a shared resource and not dedicated to keeping test at the forefront of their priorities, and

n   Lack of technological leadership and innovation as the knowledge base is restricted to your own enterprise.

Over time, as startups like Pintail extend their leadership in topics like Adaptive Test, we become smarter as a result of the collaboration with many industry leaders. Of course, the knowledge gained must be able to be shared with others.

Avago's willingness to share their expertise in quality and reliability with the industry via Pintail's commercial offerings is an essential ingredient for our test industry to progress.

Congratulations to Avago for taking this important step!

I recommend that you forward  this message to your most senior vice presidents, managers and to your IT department - they need to know that new options are available for maintaining and extending the competitiveness of your company.

What is Adaptive Test?

Many of you responded to our last newsletter asking for a better definition of Adaptive Test. We have expanded our web site to include a more thorough summary and encourage you to read it at the following link:

Others of you questioned why the chameleon was pictured in the article. My wife thought it was "ugly." If you have a better icon that is a good metaphor for "Adaptive Test" send it to me. The top ten ideas submitted will win a genuine Pintail polo shirt!

Better yet, send me your ideas on what would be a good icon for Dynamic Outlier Detection and Rejection and the top ten entries also get a genuine Pintail polo shirt.

What is a Real-time Dashboard?

stop watch

Have you ever wished that you could see test results from different brands of ATE systems and from different test floors including your various subcons with a common view? What if you could access all of this data over the web with any browser and with only a few points & clicks? And the coolest thing would be to get all of this data in real-time.

Think this is impossible?

Think again!

Pintail is delivering such a solution today!
