Whatever You Do, Inspire Worship!
emailThe "good deeds" season is officially upon us! ...When it's seasonably fashionable to encourage folks to think of others before themselves. In His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus pointedly requires that we let our lights so shine before others that they visibly see and recognize our good works! Amen.

Paul confirms in Eph 2 that each of us is built and crafted for this purpose! Eph 2:10 NKJV For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

You and I were created with an inward purpose and an outward purpose (Love our God with all that is within... and love our neighbor). Father's "horizontal" objective for us all along... created in Christ Jesus "for good works..."

However, there is a vital part of Jesus' proclamation that is often overlooked, and this is partly why. Some translations use the phrase "good deeds." To me, this conveys images of boy-scout deeds and conduct and actually fails to convey fully Gods greater intent.

Mat 5:16 NKJV Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and... glorify your Father in heaven. In other words, our outward purpose is that our actions be such that whoever witnesses them is inspired and compelled to worship!

May each of us during this 'season of good works,' remember as Paul said that "...All things are to His glory." May we each let our lights shine in such a way that others see Father ...and are inspired to glorify Him. May He be magnified through even our smallest gift or "Merry Christmas" (in all we say and do)!

Whatever you do, inspire worship! Amen. Selah. \o/
