| Satan's Original Target |
|
Gen.3 documents what we've come to call the "fall of man." The chapter begins with the account of the serpents tempting suggestions to Eve, followed by this striking sequence of events.
Gen 3:6 NKJV So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings. 8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.
It is not by accident that vs.6 is followed immediately by the resulting vss.7,8 ... the instant effect within their own hearts in vs.7 and the direct God-ward consequence of vs.8.
While God had a grand plan to span the ages (He saw you and me thousands of yrs down the road as the future of this equation), satan, on the other hand, had no such long-term foresight. He just one simple target-somehow separating them from the Presence! ...Nothing has changed. Selah \o/
