Every "church service" we are in and any time you and I are personally confronted with a spiritual challenge or instruction of any kind (whether corporately or individually), we are responsible to in some way act on what we've heard! There must be residual evidence after the fact. Otherwise, it will disappear.
The corresponding action & exercise (in some fashion) determines whether that instruction will be a milestone or a sandcastle, permanent or temporary, continuing or momentary.
Mar 4:23 AMP If any man has ears to hear, let him be listening and let him perceive and comprehend. 24 And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you--and more [besides] will be given to you who hear. 25 NLT To those who listen to My teaching, more understanding will be given...
While this yardstick clearly applies to God's every promise and provision, I like to also attach this thought about the ultimate purpose and objective of God's promises to each of us. 2Co 1:20 NKJV For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. [God's every promise includes this intent...That He would be glorified through us!] Amen.
Just as faith without works (corresponding actions) is lifeless, similarly, to whom anything is given, of him shall something be required. With the investment comes expected objective ... all to the glory of God! Selah. \o/
