Pro 28:14 AMP Blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) is the man who reverently and worshipfully fears [the Lord] at all times [regardless of circumstances], but he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity.
This passage beautifully underscores several important points. Worship and the fear of the Lord are directly related ...and both are heart-matters! As seen throughout the Proverbs, many verses present direct opposites within a single conjunctive sentence. Thus, 28:14 offers the same comparative between the blessings of worshipful fear of the Lord and the calamitous result of a hardened heart.
While the Message translation fails to convey the full meaning, it does establish the comparative nature of the verse, "A tenderhearted person lives a blessed life; a hardhearted person lives a hard life." Although this translation successfully highlights that both sides of this discussion are entirely "heart matters", it however does not emphasize the most vital point, the worship aspect and the lynchpin of the entire verse... tenderhearted toward the Lord.
Furthermore, having a heart-after-God at all times and in any circumstances produces and insures blessing! Selah. \o/
