Bless The Lord, O My Soul!

email

Psa 103:1 NKJV Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2  Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits.

"Bless the Lord, O my soul," is a personal command! David often challenged himself in this way. "O my soul, bless the Lord!" This personal challenge was a decree from his spirit within him to his soul, (his will, his emotion, his mind).

This, however, indicates one major point: it shows that at that moment, he didn't feel like blessing the Lord. "Forget not all His benefits," shows David's apparent tendency to do just that--to forget all God had done for him. Even David himself required this personal oversight. ...David!

So, you and I are certainly not alone struggling to bless the Lord when we don't feel like it. Even David faced the same monumental choice. Even David had to cross the same bridge and make the same willful decision within himself to bless the Lord, despite feelings to the contrary! Selah.\o/
