| Life is all about "Flying By Instruments" |
2Co 4:18 AMP Since we consider and look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are visible are temporal (brief and fleeting), but the things that are invisible are deathless and everlasting. In other words, "Don't be moved by what you see!"
Yet, the most natural thing in the world is to be governed completely and totally by what we see and guided entirely by how our 5 physical senses define life. (Seeing is believing...!) The bible specifically declares, Do not allow those things that are seen and felt to dictate your decisions, regardless of how glaring and ominous.
What separates advanced pilots, like our son-in-law Travis, from entry-level flyers? ...Whether or not he or she is instrument rated! This phrase beautifully describes the difference between the two groups. Those who are wholly dependant on what they see and on perfect visual conditions and those who, regardless of visual circumstances, have utter faith in the instruments on which they are trained.
If you and I are ever going to fly through and rise above the storms in our lives, we must grow beyond "visual flight rules." "We walk by faith and not by sight" is not just an "old adage," it is God's 2Cor.5:7 command. NLT translates it, "For we live by believing and not by seeing." (Indeed in spiritual terms, "seeing is believing" IS just an old saying, and little more.)
Truly, life is all about "considering NOT the things that are seen" and rather flying exclusively by instruments--allowing God's Word and His Word alone to chart our course and dictate our actions and reactions! Selah. \o/ |
