Storm Update
Churches Being Repaired
The two Johnson City District Churches most affected by April 27 storms are in the process of repair. The church roof has been replaced at Liberty Hill UMC and the roof of their community center is next. At Mt. Tabor UMC, the Mennonites are still on site working to repair the damage done to that church building.
Community Need Still Great
The Horse Creek, Camp Creek, South Side and Ducktown communities are all still in need of assistance. The process of recovery will likely take years in some areas. To volunteer for a work team, contact Steph Burkhart at 895-1296 or by email, or contact the Holston Conference Call Center at 865-309-950 or 865-309-9563.
The True Meaning of Partnership
The morning after the storms, Dr. Randy Frye and Rev. Tim Bracken traveled to the Czech Republic to participate in Spring School. When the Czech churches learned that churches and communities in our district had been damaged, they decided to take up offerings to help us. They collected $3,250! This is just one more example of being "In Mission Together".
UMCOR Grant Received
We have received a grant from the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) to assist with Disaster Response in our district. This money is designated for assisting families and individuals affected by the storm that DO NOT have insurance. If you are aware of someone in your community that qualifies, please contact the District Office with details.

This year, we have been asked to assemble 300 kits to be sent to Ishe Anesu in Zimbabwe. Let's see how many we can collect this year!
