First Friday
August 6

Not your typical car show !
swope cars logo 2010

The Swope will be giving folks a first peek at the new public-art project:  "Cruising around in Terre Haute".

Sure, Chicago had cows, and we had the colts, but Cars are a really great fit for Terre Haute - just consider

Cars are what made the Crossroads of America, and the Historic National Road was the first "interstate".

Our auto-racing heritage...

The historic roots of Hummer and Jeep trace back to Willys-Overland and the Standard Wheel Company in Terre Haute, way back in 1903!,

If you liked the colts exhibit, you're gonna love the cars!

BookNation
Renowned Wabash Valley author James C. Wallace II will be appearing at BookNation in downtown Terre Haute this Friday evening to discuss and autograph his latest children's book, "Shadow Demon of Oz".

The book signing and discussion will take place on Friday, Aug. 6th from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. The appearance is one of downtown's many First Friday offerings for August.

The Royal Magician of Oz Trilogy features "Magician of Oz" and "Shadow Demon of Oz", both of which are currently available at BookNation, 675 Wabash Avenue. "Family of Oz", the third and final volume of the trilogy is due out in early 2011.

In "Magician of Oz", Jamie Diggs learns of his magical heritage and soon discovers a wonderful world of magic, friendship and love as he battles an Army of Trees and enchanted Morel Mushrooms alongside his new friend, Dorothy Gale.

Continuing the story in "Shadow Demon of Oz", the young magician is called to return to the Land of Oz to take his place as the new Royal Magician of Princess Ozma; Ruler and Sovereign of Oz. For his first Royal Command, Princess Ozma sends her Royal Magician and his best friend Buddy off to battle the Evil Shadow Demon and save the Hyups of Mount Munch.

As a special offering to all who come to his book signing and purchase an autographed copy of either "Magician of Oz" or "Shadow Demon of Oz", Mr. Wallace will present a special gift directly related to his story of Oz.
