 CEO Corner

From The CEO:
This month, we are thankful for all our new Girl Scouts and Girl Scout adult volunteers. We are creating an opportunity for all girls to become the best they can be. Thank you to all the volunteers who responded to my invitation in the last edition to make positive suggestions for improvement as we all work more closely together as a council. Remember, we are one "council"- girls, parents, volunteers, board and the community. Together we make a difference in the life of a girl.
We are also thankful to welcome the newest member to our Girl Scout family, Jordan Marie Krueger, daughter and future Girl Scout born to Julie and her husband Chris Krueger on October 30, 2011. Julie is the Membership Specialist for Sarasota County.
As we celebrate "The Year of the Girl" and as the experts on girl growth and development, we know that there are issues in our community that can be solved by girls and adults working together. This is the year to take action!
We are pleased to join community collaborators to bring you two exciting events that showcase Girl Scouting as the premier leadership development experience. The first is WEDU public television's preview of Troop 1500 on December 8th, at 6:00 PM at the GECC. The second event, scheduled for February 18th, is Girls Protecting Girls, a series of guest speakers and workshops developed to empower girls to be a part of the solution to human trafficking, the 2nd largest and fastest growing crime in the world. More to come on both of these events and opportunities to attend and participate.
Enjoy a happy and healthy Thanksgiving.
Regards,
Sue

All programs sponsored by the council have specific program outcomes so you can be sure that your Girl Scout gets the full Girl Scout Leadership Experience every time she participates. Because no girl is the same, customizing the Girl Scout experience and letting the girl choose how she participates in Girl Scouts gives her control over her Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Each program and activity she participates in will encourage her and help her gain confidence in her skills and ability to be the girl she wants to be. Girl Scouting builds girls of Courage, Confidence and Character who make the world a better place. Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, Inc. is chartered by Girl Scouts of the USA and serves over 10,500 girls in ten counties including: Manatee, Hardee, Highlands, Sarasota, DeSoto, Charlotte, Glades, Lee, Hendry, and Collier.
