Strategic Learning

Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, Inc. honors its 50 year legacy to deliver the premier leadership experience for girls in kindergarten through twelfth grade, where meaningful relationships with adult volunteers and partnerships with the community inspire all girls to develop courage, confidence and character to make the world a better place.

The world has changed since 1912 and the founding of Girl Scouting. Our commitment to girls and our focus on providing a positive and quality leadership experience is unwavering. We must provide an experience that girls need in a way they want. We must focus our limited resources of today on what matters most in order to deliver our promise to girls for the next 100 years. We believe that the process of Strategic Learning will be the bridge to that success for girls in our council for the future.

During the past 12 months, the board, girls and volunteers, community partners and staff worked diligently to examine and focus on what matters most for girls in our region.

Please click here, to view GSGCF's Leadership Message established as a communication link for what we believe matters most in Girl Scouting for our council. In the upcoming months, we will all be working together with parents, families, volunteers and the community to bring the strategy to life and to carry out the plan. Let's make the start of our 100th and 50th celebrations a commitment to the Girl Scout movement and mission. I look forward to your feedback or comments sues@gsgcf.org.

Staff Updates

Our staff continues to evolve and change as we staff our organization focused on what matters most: Funding, Volunteerism, Marketing, Pathways and Outcomes, Technology and Marketing.

Our ways of work will be focused on broadening and deepening relationships and trust with existing and new volunteers and community partners. Our work in cross functional teams (staff, volunteers, girls, board and committees and community partners) under the leadership of "project managers" has begun.

The next Cybernews will include additional staffing and volunteer updates, along with an updated "who to call for what" document.

Best Wishes to

Cathy Wilson, Chief Financial Officer, who accepted a position with Sarasota County in July.

Debbie McDowell-Tate, Chief Operating Officer, who will be pursuing new career opportunities, as of September.

Melisa Mason, Director of Outdoor and Environmental programs, who relocated back "home" to New England in August.

Congratulations to:

Barbara Van Essen, Innovative Specialist, who will serve as a Membership Specialist for Collier County.

Welcome:

Betsy Laughlin, Director of Finance.

Janis Hyatt, Sr. Manager for Fixed Assets (Property)

Zachary Gainey- son born to Amy & Brian Gainey on August 4, 2011

Please be patient with us as we transition people, processes and programs.

I personally welcome any and all suggestions for improvement and solutions to current concerns. Together, we are all part of the future.

With Appreciation,

All programs sponsored by the council have specific program outcomes so you can be sure that your Girl Scout gets the full Girl Scout Leadership Experience every time she participates. Because no girl is the same, customizing the Girl Scout experience and letting the girl choose how she participates in Girl Scouts gives her control over her Girl Scout Leadership Experience.  Each program and activity she participates in will encourage her and help her gain confidence in her skills and ability to be the girl she wants to be.
Girl Scouting builds girls of Courage, Confidence and Character who make the world a better place.  Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, Inc. is chartered by Girl Scouts of the USA and serves over 10,500 girls in ten counties including: Manatee, Hardee, Highlands, Sarasota, DeSoto, Charlotte, Glades, Lee, Hendry, and Collier.
