ACELINK has been funded during the 2009-10 school
year to provide up to 3 free
interactive video programs for each teacher in the
consortium per year.
| Butterflies! - Grades K-2 |

Engage your class with something
new.
Each student will construct a
Butterfly Marionette while
participating in learning activities about the lifecycle of
the butterfly, what makes a butterfly an insect, and
coloring and camouflage. Video clips and
photographs of the different stages in the life of a
butterfly are included. This is a great arts and science
lesson all in one!
Program Date: September 22, 2009
Program Time: 1:00 PM EST
Content Provider: Center for Puppetry Arts,
Atlanta, GA
There is only one slot available on a first-come, first-
served basis. Additional dates/times can also be
set up on request. This is a 45 minute program, and
includes teacher preparation materials.

| Live Knee Surgery Openings for 2009 |

Give your students a birds-eye-view of a total knee
replacement surgery through COSI Columbus. This
90-minute connection to a surgery suite in Columbus,
Ohio allows students to interact with the surgical team
during the procedure. The team will also share their
specific roles and explain their career path.
We have two programs remaining to be scheduled in
2009:
- Sept. 21 at 1:00 PM
- Nov. 25 at 11:00 AM

| Mushing Virtual Field Trips - Kigluait, Alaska |

This series explores the lifestyle of running dogs in
Alaska-- from racing the Iditarod to keeping your family
warm and well fed throughout the long northern
winter. There are six seperate 1- hour
videoconference programs in this series. All are
supported by our the provider's online Moodle
classroom, a daily
Kennel Blog, and the resource-rich Flash Kennels
website.
Teachers can choose to participate
in this series in any way they like- from registering for
a single 1-hour videoconference, in the typical "virtual
fieldtrip" fashion, to registering for all six, stretched
across a semester or an entire year!
Programs in the series include:

- Feed Me Mister Musher! Sled Dog Nutrition
- Keep me Warm, Keep me Safe!
- Run Baby Run!
- Racing: Living with Sled Dogs

| Scary Art - Grades 7-12 |

|
Fun for Halloween or anytime -- a distance
learning
program featuring goblins, witches and dastardly
doings! Explore otherwordly paintings and prints by
Francisco Goya, Salvator Rosa and Albert Pinkham
Ryder for an art journey to the other side. Students
discuss superstition in the 1600s including the Salem
witch trials.
Check your calendar and submit 2-3 possible
dates/times for this program on the ACELINK Request
Form. We'll contact the Cleveland Museum of Art and
schedule your session.
Other programs are available for grades K-12 on their
web site.

| Master of Suspence: Hitchcock on the Box - Grades 7-12 |

Alfred Hitchcock enlivened the suspence genre with
tongue-in-cheek introductions, macabre humor, and
twist endings. In this workshop students analyze
Hitchcock's use of the ordinary to create exciting, even
frightening, television drama.
The Paley Center offers classes via videoconferencing
on a wide variety of topics that have been developed
and are conducted by the Paley Center's education
staff. Classes include clips from the collection that
provide information, stimulate conversation, and
encourage active viewing and critical thinking. Pre-
and post-visit educational materials provide additional
thematically relevant information and extend the
learning experience.
This program can be scheduled on the date/time you
request.

| PreK-2 Favorite for December...The Gingerbread Boy |

Students witness the classic tale of The Gingerbread
Boy come to life with brilliantly colored shadow
puppets. The story is narrated and performed with a
shadow puppet during
the first part of the program.
Led by the
program presenter, students make their very own
Gingerbread Boy Shadow Puppet during the second
half of the program. They also participate in a learning
activity about gingerbread's ingredients and history.
This is a great holiday program.
We have reserved four sessions in December, and
they'll be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Typically, the program lasts 45-50 minutes. Make sure
you check your school calendar before requesting a
specific date/time.

Note: We must have an ACELINK
Request Form completed in order to approve a
request for a video conference. Only
teachers in the ACELINK consortium are eligible for
ACELINK funding.
