For years, these beautiful hand carved wild olivewood salad bowls were a Swahili Imports mainstay. The raw forms were carved by artisans in Zimbabwe, then transported to South Africa by bus, where artisans burned rich, varied designs into each piece. When the South African artisans who craft these bowls stopped producing in 2002 due to a personal tragedy, we thought we might never again be able to offer you these incredible African salad bowls.

Thankfully, the artisans are back at work, and our first shipment just arrived from South Africa this week. We have five sizes available, from massive bowls sized for a feast to individual serving bowls, and each one is a unique work of art. A perfect Mother's Day or wedding gift item!
