Surgenor Pontiac Buick Limited has been a tradition in the Ottawa Market for sales, service and leasing of automobiles and trucks. It was founded over 50 years ago and has since grown and expanded in many areas in Eastern Ontario. The Pontiac Buick dealership was relocated in 1973 to its present location at 939 St. Laurent Blvd.

It is a family business owned by Pat McGurn and his two sons, Michael and Andrew. Pat is President of Surgenor while Michael presently operates as dealer principle of Surgenor Pontiac Buick Limited and Andrew operates as dealer principal at Boulevard Cadillac Chevrolet Ltd. Father and sons are involved in the overall operations of the related companies.

Last Thursday, OXA members were introduced to the company's newest dealership addition:  Surgenor Hyundai. Ottawa's market is a good one for Hyundai. In fact, we learned that Toyota and Honda's sales together are less than Hyundai's sales.

Larry greeted the OXA Members and guests.  He introduced Pat McGurn, the owner of the dealership and his son Mike.  Both presented the new 28,000 square foot building to the members which was just finished last month (taking this "new car smell" to a whole new level). Located at 895 St-Laurent Blvd., the building replaces an old Surgenor building (see before and after photos below). What a makeover!

Mike McGurn invited the OXA Members to take a tour of the dealership. He started with the impressive showroom which holds 12 cars and 15 sales managers' offices. The group was then led to view the Reception and guest waiting area. In behind that area lies the work bays where a representative from Dent Tech quickly explained the procedure to repair cars who were damaged in the hail storm the week before. Level 2 of the dealership holds the administrative offices.

The Surgenor staff and management are involved in the community through membership within the Kiwanis Club, Ottawa Executive Association, United Way of Ottawa/Carleton, Better Business Bureau, MS Society, Cancer Society and many more organizations. The Surgenor staff annually contributes to The United Way with the company matching their contributions to become the area's largest contributor from the automotive industry.

For twenty years Surgenor Pontiac Buick Limited has been awarded the General Motors highest award, the Triple Crown Award. This award combines vehicle sales with customer satisfaction levels achieved by dealership. 2008 was the most recent year Surgenor was recognized with this award. In addition, Surgenor Pontiac Buick Limited has been the largest volume General Motors franchise dealer in Eastern Ontario and consistently in the top 10 in Canada.

Thank you to Manny Mellios from Hemmingway's Catering and his staff who provided a sumptuous breakfast which included an omelette station, sausages, potatoes, chocolate croissants, fresh fruit and other goodies.
